With the Alkaline Diet, where do I get my proteins?

Unfortunately the world moves very slowly when it comes to accepting the truth.” LeGrand Richards

Now we know that diet and proper lifestyle are key elements in determining our health and fitness. But with all the contradictory information that´s out there on the Internet, books and the media, etc., it is easy to get confused about what we should or shouldn´t de eating, drinking, thinking or doing. However, the overwhelming evidence derived from all the research available, shows a clear path in obtaining an extraordinary level of health, energy, vitality and longevity with the alkaline life style.

How much protein do I really need?

The issue of proteins has deliberately become very confusing because of the commercial propaganda; since it is always one of the first questions people ask when they want to know more about the alkaline diet that excludes meat and dairy.

Where do I get my proteins from if I´m not eating any meat, dairy or eggs?

Many people are surprised to know that our real needs for proteins are actually very small.

Excessive animal protein consumption poses a much greater health risk. According to T. Collin Campbell, Ph.D, who wrote the book, “The China Study,” who stated that:

“Even the intake of small portions of animal foods – meat, eggs and milk – is associated with a significant increase in chronic degenerative diseases.” After forty years of research on the impact of nutrition on human health, T .Collin Campbell concluded that, “people whose diet was based mostly on animal products was prone to suffer more chronic diseases. The people who basically ate plant-based foods were the healthiest and suffered much less from chronic diseases and inflammation”

Walter Willett, Counselor of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health, states that a diet rich in vegetables and fruits play a key role in preventing all types of diseases and even preventing premature death.

Heart disease and consume of protein

Every 35 seconds someone dies from heart disease, and its treatment has become a huge business in both the United States and Europe. Surgical interventions cost thousands of dollars or euros, while people every day take more and more acidic medicines.  Meanwhile, study after study have shown that an alkaline plant based diet rich in green vegetables and fruits, seeds and nuts loaded with tons of good nutrients and good fats, can stop and even reverse heart disease.

It has been consistently proven over and over again that coronary heart disease can easily be prevented and reversed simply by having an alkaline lifestyle and diet. Lifestyle and alkaline diet is the first step, scientifically proven, capable of reversing heart disease, diabetes and even other chronic diseases. The alkaline diet and lifestyle combines a diet based on green plants, moderate aerobic exercise, body detox and blood regeneration, alkaline hyper perfusion in blood and tissues, and stress management.

Eating meat is associated not only with coronary heart disease, but also with the risk of developing other chronic diseases. Fortunately people now are beginning to be informed about the new possibilities of the alkaline diet and lifestyle.

Other disease associated with meat consumption

In countries where the level of meat consumption is very high, the rate of prostate cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer is higher than in those countries whose meat consumption is lower and therefore, have lower rates of prostate, colon and breast cancer too.

The American Medical Association discovered in a study carried out in 2005 that those who ate larger portions of meat had twice the risk of suffering colon cancer than those who ate very little amounts of meat.

The American Cancer Society makes two fundamental recommendations to prevent cancer through diet and this is what they say:

Eat more plant based foods and eat less animal protein based food.

Preventing illness and diseases is that simple. You are what you eat, drink and think. Cancer can be prevented by following a healthy plant based diet loaded with vegetables, some fruits, seed, nuts, good fats and clean water, avoiding processed foods and smoking, and having an active lifestyle.

Our needs of protein

Throughout our lives, when do we need more proteins? During our first six months of life. Yes, when we are children because we grow more quickly than in any other time in life and consequently our protein needs are greater. However, breast milk contains less than 2% protein. And by the way, green vegetables roughly contain the same amount.

The reality about proteins is that you don´t have to worry at all about getting enough proteins daily. 70% of your protein needs are generated by the body itself. In other words, your body reuses and recycles its own proteins, obtaining them from recycled blood and body cells. The more efficient your body is, less proteins you need.

Vegetables have also proteins

All the proteins you need are found in green vegetables and vegetables in general, fruits, sprouts, seeds, nuts, legumes, etc. If you eat a variety of green vegetables and fruit, sprouts, seeds, nuts, etc. you will get more than enough protein. For example, spinach contains 49% protein and broccoli 48%.

The strongest animals in the world, such as horses, gorillas, rhinos and elephants eat basically green plant foods. And I can assure you that they don´t eat veal sirloin or protein shakes for breakfast, lunch or dinner

Some Important Points About Ecology:

World Cattle consumes more and more land, energy and water.

Eat vegetables is more sustainable

While 100,000 liters of water is needed to produce only half a kilogram of wheat, an exorbitant amount of 9,460,700 liters of water is needed to produce only half a kilogram of meat.

If Americans and Europeans reduce their meat intake just by a 10%, they would release 12 million tons of grain annually fit for human consumption – an amount that would completely feed 60 million people, who this year will die of hunger.

Every 3 seconds a child dies of hunger.

Paul McCartney said,

“If anyone wants to save the planet, all they have to do is stop eating meat. It’s the only thing and the most important thing you should do. ”

My own research has shown again and again that a plant based alkaline diet, rich in green vegetables with a high chlorophyll content, seeds, nuts and healthy fats, without dairy or meat, is one of the healthiest diets that can possibly  provide long lasting health, energy, vitality, and longevity. It´s the perfect anti-inflammatory diet and lifestyle.
