Turmeric and Pepper 100g from Organic Superfoods (Indian saffron) is a golden-colored spice that grows in Asia and Central America. It is a spice that offers great gastronomic versatility, in addition to having medicinal and biological properties thanks to its curcumin content, which is its active ingredient. For this reason, turmeric is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional medicine of India.

Studies have shown that turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory, it helps fight free radicals, promoting the reduction of symptoms of inflammation and pain in joint arthritis and degenerative diseases. Likewise, these studies have also suggested that curcumin has a protective effect on oncological processes.

Thanks to its antioxidant properties, it has a hepatoprotective effect, in addition to helping to improve digestive function.

Turmeric is native to India. Its Sanskrit name, haridrā (“yellow”) denotes its characteristic color. In traditional Ayurveda it is one of the most important and used spices, it is considered a true panacea. It is also highly valued for its uses in cooking, in addition to the smell and color it provides, and for its digestive properties. For its correct absorption and assimilation, it is combined with black pepper (another appreciated plant from Ayurveda). Traditionally it has been used as a digestive, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, detoxifying, immune system enhancer, and is considered to nourish and repair tissues. It is one of the most researched oriental plants in recent decades, especially in relation to one of its components, curcumin. Clinical studies have shown its effectiveness in numerous diseases.

Turmeric and Pepper Benefits 100g:

Turmeric* (95%) (Curcuma longa) and ground pepper* (5%) (Piper nigrum).

How to use:

  • Add half a tsp. in a cup of boiling water. You can add a slice of fresh ginger.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes and sweeten to taste with honey* or sugar (panela).

You can also prepare “golden milk” by boiling half a tsp for 1 min. in cow’s or vegetable milk, and sweeten to taste. *Honey is added when the infusion is below 40°.

In cooking it can be used alone or mixed with other spices.

Dosage:

  • Standard dose: 300mg to 600mg per day (1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon).
  • 400 to 600 mg of turmeric 3 times a day to improve arthritis.

Contraindications:

  • Hepatitis and bile disorders
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • It presents incompatibility with some anticoagulant medications.
