Christmas cleansing broth with celery, onion and ginger

During the Christmas holidays, we have endless family commitments, endless meals with succulent foods that we don’t usually eat regularly. Furthermore, during these dates we eat more than necessary. These excesses can lead to undesirable effects: level of acidity, digestive problems, weight gain and swelling and, finally, lowering our defenses. Since it is not about giving up anything, the key is knowing how to compensate. One of the ways is to drink this wonderful Christmas cleansing broth with celery, onion and ginger for a week after the holidays.

Christmas cleansing broth with celery, onion and ginger

This broth will help you eliminate accumulated toxins, reduce swelling by draining retained fluid, and eliminate those extra pounds. Today’s recipe contains celery, onion and ginger.

Celery is a very cleansing and diuretic vegetable that contains the four alkaline minerals par excellence: calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, as well as iron and zinc. It also has vitamin A, C and B9.

The onion could not be missing, another vegetable with extraordinary properties as well. It is cleansing, diuretic, and contains the same vitamins and minerals as celery as well as sulfur.

And ginger, a very aromatic and slightly spicy root, with anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. This wonderful root helps control appetite and relieve intestinal problems thanks to its content of proteolytic enzymes. Likewise, it contains alkaline minerals such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, and vitamins B6 and C.

Ingredients

  • 100 g of celery
  • 250 gr of onion
  • 250 g of leek
  • 150 g carrot
  • 250 g of zucchini
  • 250g turnip
  • 1 handful of parsley
  • 1 piece of fresh ginger or 1 teaspoon of powdered ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 and a half liters of filtered water.

Preparation

  • Cut all the vegetables into small pieces. Chop the parsley and chop the ginger if you choose fresh.
  • Put the pot on the stove and heat the water until it boils.
  • Add the cut vegetables to the boiling water.
  • Add salt and pepper
  • Add ginger powder if you choose this version.
  • Let it cook over low heat, covering the pot, for about 15 minutes.

Once finished we can strain the broth and puree the remaining vegetables. Another option, my favorite, is to strain half and put the other half through a blender or blender so that it becomes a delicious cream.

We can have the purifying cream for lunch and the broth for dinner and vice versa. If you take it often for one or two weeks you will notice it. Before drinking the broth you can add a little lemon juice to enhance its detox properties.
