Oleic Acids and Fatty Acids in Avocados
At the University of California, Irvine (UCI), researchers studied foods rich in fats like avocados, which contain 25% saturated fat and 75% unsaturated fat (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated). They found that avocado consumption stimulated the production of a substance that suppresses appetite in the small intestine.
The oleic acids and unsaturated fatty acids found in foods like avocado stimulate the production of “oleoylethanolamide” (OEA). OEA reaches nerve endings that signal the brain that the body no longer needs to eat.
